Employment Unit Services: The North Bay Indian Friendship Centre provides employment services/counseling to assist clients to obtain and maintain employment. these services are made available to both the employer as well as the employee. Key Benefits

Resumes, Cover letters
The Employment Unit will help individuals to construct, revise, and update a resume and / or cover letter

Computers
We presently have three computers to aid clients in constructing resumes and cover letters, etc. Computers are equipped with Microsoft Word and Corel WordPerfect. Clients are expected to have some knowledge of computers but some assistance is available on an individual basis.

Internet
We have a computer terminal with Internet access to help find employment.

Resource Library
The Employment Unit has access to an assorted collection of resource material which includes the following:

 

Academic calendars
A large selection readily available to our clients from various educational institutions in Ontario including Canadore College in North Bay, Cambrian College in Sudbury and Nipissing University in North Bay.

Newspaper, Newsletters
Several reliable sources of employment listings which include: Canada Employment Weekly, Miziwe Biik Bi-weekly Canadian Newsletter and The North Bay Nugget.

Job Board, Employment Binders
The Job Board features job ads from the North Bay Nugget and Human Resources Development Canada's (HRDC) online job postings. Our employment binders hold a wide array of current employment listings forwarded to us regularly from various sources and regions. These include HRDC ads for the North Bay and Sudbury region , current First Nation postings, the Aboriginal Career & Employment Guide from the Aboriginal Multi-Media Society of Alberta (the AMMSA group), the Miziwe Biik newsletter, Canadore College's job postings, ads from the Sudbury Star, the Ottawa Citizen and the Toronto Star.

Telephone Service
We provide our clients with the use of a telephone for the purpose of making local job-related calls

Fax & Photocopy
Our clients are welcome to use our fax machine and photocopier at no charge for all job-related material.

Job bank (HRDC)
Now available! Touch-screen access to the Human Resources Development Canada National Job Bank.

If you are between the ages of 15-29 years of age (30 if disabled) you may qualify for some of the programs designed for the unaffiliated urban aboriginal youth
