Aboriginal Healthy Babies / Healthy Children Program was developed in order to enhance the current services of the Aboriginal Family Support Program and the Aboriginal Prenatal and Nutrition Programs, which are located at the North Bay Indian Friendship Centre.

This program is directed towards high risk families with children 0 to 6 years old

Program Components

 

Home Visits

 

 

- Information on pregnancy and child development (Traditional Pregnancy Practices and special ceremonies)

- assistance on enhancing parenting skills (Traditional Childrearing skills)

- One-on-one parent / individual support

- Enhance child / parent relationship (Bonding and Interactive skills)

- Provide other traditional teachings As required through elders, Aboriginal healthy babies worker, and ceremonies

- Refer you to other programs within the Friendship Centre and other helping agencies

* All components of the program will be delivered in a Culturally Appropriate Manner
